Thank you (ed. 2017)

Reading Time: 3 minutes

It’s been a year now since I wrote my first Thank You Post here on the Labs, so it’s time to say again: Thank You – for visiting Elevenfour, using the styles and plugins and for giving valuable feedback.

Let’s have a look at the numbers form 2017, compared to 2016. As last year: Data are neither complete nor representative (because only visitors who didn’t enable “Do not track” are shown) but I think those numbers give a glimpse at what happened.

Description Value 2016 Value 2017
Visitors compared to the year before 200.1 % 109.2 %
Desktop users 86.8 % 90.5 %
Most used OS Windows 10 – 61.1 % Windows 10 – 60.4 %
Most used mobile OS iOS – 8.4 % Android – 5.0 %
macOS Users n/a 4.9 %
Most used mobile OS iOS – 8.4 % Android – 5.0 %
Most used Browser Chrome – 37.0 % Chrome – 51.7 %
Visitors from search engines 24.3 % 54.4 %
Visitors from Twitter 3.9 % 7.7 %
WoltLab community site
that brought the most
visitors to Elevenfour
WoltLab Community – 4.8 % WoltLab Community – 9.0 %
WoltLab community site
that brought the most
visitors to Elevenfour (and is not WoltLab)
n/a SoftCreatR Media – 1.4 %

Quite impressing data, especially if you have a look at the visitors that came from search engines.

The most downloaded style is the X-Style, again, this time it has 240 downloads (by the time of writing this). This does not include the downloads of Flavius (which is the X-Style for WoltLab Suite 3.0).

The goals I had for 2017

New styles

I released three complete new styles: Basic Green, Clay and Caliburn. The latter is still in Beta because it’s for WoltLab Suite 3.1 (which is still beta). I released two styles for WoltLab Suite 3.0 which previously existed for older versions of WoltLab Suite: Flavius (which replaced the dark versions of X-Style) and Viento. There’s also a new style that’s based on another style: Vind (it’s based on Viento).

So, this is a total of six styles. Not perfect but better than 2016, so I leave a check here. ✅

Upgrade to WoltLab Suite 3.0

This one is quite obvious and it took me a long time, as I’ve expected. The upgrade was done by the end of July 2017. ✅

More content in English

There are still some articles written in 2017 only available in German but others only in English. And beta versions get their description in English only rather than German only. So I think I can leave a check here, too. ✅

So, 2017 was a good year for Elevenfour like it was personally for me, too.

Goals for 2018

Videos

I don’t want to put any pressure in here but I think that 2018 could see some more videos on Elevenfour. Though there might be some things out of my control which could make me stop it – but let’s see.

Upgrade to WoltLab Suite 3.1

I uninstalled WoltLab Suite Blog around Christmas 2017 and changed for the articles of WoltLab Suite Core since I won’t buy the upgrade for the Blog but I still want to upgrade everything else.

These are the goals for Elevenfour in 2018.

Some words on Styles for WoltLab Suite 3.x

  • All styles which are available for 3.0 will be available for 3.1. This might take some time.
  • Except for some styles (this could be Whisper and Seleya) I will not rework styles created for WoltLab Suite 2.x to be compatible with Suite 3.x
  • If I created new styles for WoltLab Suite then there would most likely only be a version for WoltLab Suite 3.1 and not for 3.0

Camelot

I stopped working on Camelot when I learned about the new Editor for WordPress, Gutenberg, because I feared I would have to rewrite code a short time after there could have been a first version. And since there’s still a lot of work and change around Gutenberg I do not know when and if I will start working on Camelot again.

Ok – we’ll stop this here.
Thanks again, for being there, spreading the word and helping Elevenfour grow. Have a great 2018. 🎆
